At Bosco College there are various apprenticeship schemes offered to students aged between 16-25 years, who wish to study in childcare. These courses are:

Advanced Apprenticeship - in which students need to obtain key skills in maths and English at level 1;
A pediatric first aid course;
NVQ level 2 qualifications in children's Care, learning development and a progression award level 2 an Advanced Apprenticeship is offered for those who progress from a level 2.

For this students need to gain Maths and English key skills at level 2;
An NVQ level 3 qualification in children's care and learning development and also a level 3 progression award

Students have up to 2 years to complete these awards.

Students need to attend Bosco College one day a week to develop their knowledge and for portfolio workshops. A placement at a local early years setting is found for the students to gain the practical skills they need (where sometimes a permanent position is offered). Students are allocated an assessor to give them support throughout their learning journey. The assessors will visit them at their placements to observe them performing various tasks/activities which are needed to complete these awards.

We feel at Bosco College the best possible support and training is given to our students; to help us to do this we offer childcare places for those students with small children 4 months- rising 5 years, knowing that their child is on the premises being cared for by qualified, caring, committed staff members in a healthy, safe and stimulating environment will enable these students to feel confident and in turn gain the qualification they need to progress with employment.
