The Diamond Project
The Diamond Project - what the Entry to Employment
training used to be called is for 15 - 22 year olds, who
have not been able to gain qualifications from schools or FE
colleges. The majority of whom, have had personal
issues to deal with in their lives - some of these issues will
have have slowed down their progress in learning, made
relationships with others difficult, and given them a rather
negative view of themselves and others.

|
These young people when given the right help support and challenge, can
progress through to apprenticeships, develop themselves to
become motivated employable young people and develop a
real sense of their own worth and the worth of others. At Bosco
many students gain their first qualifications and if they progress,
which depends as much on their attitude as their ability,
can go on to apprenticeships, advanced apprenticeships and
then to good jobs or even university - if they show the committment and
the motivation.
|
Some of our young people have gone to university previously,
others are in good jobs and a good many more are still on
the way, some at the very beginning. This is a very
difficult, but rewarding work, for both the students and the
tutors.
Our young people have many crises to handle, coping
with learning, acquiring self-discipline and growing in
motivation. However, all areas of the Centre are involved
with them and have learned to encourage them in their
steps, challenge them in their motivation and praise them
in their efforts.
Staff support for each other is a hallmark of the centre, but
particularly dealing with those at foundation level - where it
is both difficult and rewarding.
